Anthony Davis, sophomore running back with the Wisconsin football team, was charged Tuesday with misdemeanor battery in relation to a weekend domestic disturbance during which he was stabbed in the leg and later hospitalized. The other individual in the dispute was charged with second-degree recklessly endangering safety and aggravated battery, both felonies.
Davis was released from the hospital on Monday. His availability for Saturday's game with Illinois is undetermined at this point.
"Anthony will have a chance to tell his side of the story and have his case reviewed,' UW assistant athletic director for communications Steve Malchow said. 'His innocence or guilt will be determined by the justice system. The UW Athletic Department will allow that process to run its course. Any discipline or punishment, if justified, will come later.''
