NCAA Tournament Announcement Today

The 64-team bracket for the 2002 NCAA Division I Women's Volleyball Tournament will be announced today at 8 p.m. on ESPNews. The public is invited to join the Badgers for the announcement in the McClain Center Auditorium (second floor). Parking is available in lot 17, the ramp north of Camp Randall Stadium. Please enter the McClain Center at the entrance beneath the underpass between the McClain Center and stadium.
The Badgers are looking for their 11th NCAA tournament appearance. Wisconsin has made six consecutive appearances and played in the post-season classic eight out of the last nine years. The Badgers have an 18-10 tournament record.
In 2001, Wisconsin swept UW-Milwaukee and Michigan State at home in the first and second rounds before losing to Texas A&M in the regional semifinals. The Badgers' best NCAA finish came in 2000 when it advanced to the championship match, losing to Nebraska.
If Wisconsin is selected to host the first two rounds of the 2002 tournament, first-round matches will be held in the UW Field House on Friday at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. The winners of Friday's matches will play each other in the second round on Saturday at 7 p.m. Tickets for first and second round matches will be on sale all this week in the UW Athletic Ticket Office, 601 W. Dayton St., or by calling 1-800-GO BADGERS.
