Badgers Take Fourth Place at Spring Fling

The Wisconsin women's golf team shot a final-round 315 at the Indigo Lakes Golf Club to capture fourth place at the 16-team Hatter Spring Fling in Daytona Beach, Fla. The Badgers finished the two-day tournament at 622 to grab their fourth-consecutive top-five tournament finish. Junior Katie Connelly and sophomore Malinda Johnson each cracked the top-10 to lead Wisconsin.
Florida Southern took the top spot with a 599 led by medalist Jana Peterkova's 1-over-par 145. Big Ten rival Michigan finished second with a 608, followed by Charleston Southern at 618.
Connelly led Wisconsin for the third-straight tourney, following an opening-round 74 with a 3-over-par 75 to finish tied for third with a 149. Johnson carded a final-round 77 to place tied for seventh at 151.
Also contributing for Wisconsin were sophomore Emily Hendricks tied for 36th with a 79-81'160, junior Carli Gregorin tied for 48th at 81-82 '163 and senior Heidi Njoes with an 81-87'167.
Wisconsin is back in action March 28-29 at the San Antonio Shootout hosted by Baylor University.
