Melissa Martin, a senior at Lincoln High School in Wisconsin Rapids, has signed an "acceptance of admissions" letter to attend the University of Wisconsin in the fall and become a member of the women's golf team.
As a junior, Melissa won the 2000 Wisconsin High School Individual Championship and also helped her team to the team state title. She earned first team All-State and Channel 7 `Athlete of the Week' as a junior. Melissa has extensive experience in the Wisconsin PGA Junior Tour, taking first place in eight of its events.
Martin joins Jill Ries, a senior at Middleton High School, who also signed an "acceptance of admissions letter" on April 17. Ries finished in the top 10 of the Wisconsin State High School championship the last three years.
The Badgers earlier added a Canadian in the fall signing period. Lindsay McMillan of Calgary, Alberta, was the 2000 Alberta Junior Girls Champion record shooting a 54-hole total 218, and holds the 2001 Canadian Junior Tour record for 18-holes with a 69.
