August 28, 2002 | Men's Cross Country
The Wisconsin men's cross country team was ranked fourth in the MONDO Preseason Cross Country Poll, conducted by the United States Cross Country Coaches Association, announced Tuesday. The Badgers were rated behind defending NCAA Champion Colorado, 2001 runner-up Stanford and third-place finisher Arkansas. The UW placed fifth at the national meet in 2001.
Wisconsin opens its season this Friday at the Huskie Invitational in DeKalb, Ill. The Badgers are the three-time defending Big Ten Champions. Their top three runners from last year, sophomores Matt Tegenkamp and Josh Spiker, and senior Isaiah Festa, who finished 2-3-4 at the conference meet, all return this season.
