Volleyball Remains at No. 23 in USA Today/AVCA Poll

The University of Wisconsin volleyball team remained at 23rd in the USA Today/American Volleyball Coaches Association poll released Oct. 20.
Defending NCAA champion USC (18-0) remains atop the coaches poll for the ninth straight week and still receives all 65 first-place votes. Hawai'i (20-1), Florida (20-1) and Georgia Tech (20-0) remain ranked second, third and fourth, respectively. Pepperdine (15-2) moves up one spot to fifth.
The Big Ten Conference has four teams in the top 25. Penn State (17-3) falls two spots to 15th while Michigan State (12-6) falls four spots to 22nd. Wisconsin (14-5) comes in at No. 23 and Minnesota (13-7) moves back into the poll at No. 25. Illinois (15-3) receives points.
The first half of the Big Ten season wraps up this weekend with four teams tied for first place at 6-2. No. 23 Wisconsin is one of those teams and takes on another first-place team in No. 15 Penn State on Friday at 7 p.m. in the UW Field House. The match will be broadcast on a tape-delayed basis by ESPN2. Chris Marlowe and Karch Kiraly, a three-time Olympic gold medalist, will provide the on-air commentary.
On Saturday, the Badgers take on Ohio State (8-8, 2-6) at 7 p.m. also in the Field House. FoxSports Net will broadcast the match on a tape-delayed basis.
Ohio State plays at Penn State on Wednesday before both teams come to Madison.
