Wisconsin Falls Short Against Michigan State

The Wisconsin men's soccer team was unable to pull out the win on Senior Day as it fell to Michigan State in a close 1-0 decision. Senior Erol Goknur was one of three Badgers with two shots on the day.
'I thought it was a little bit erratic today,' Wisconsin head coach Jeff Rohrman said. 'At times we looked alright and at times we didn't look as good as we should.'
Knotted at zero for most of the game, the Spartans pulled away from the Badgers in the 70th minute when midfielder Jeffrey Krass converted on a pass from teammate John Minagawa-Webster and slipped the ball past Wisconsin goalie Eric Hanson for the game's lone score.
Wisconsin came close to catching Michigan State following the score, shooting four times and twice on-goal, but was unable to capitalize.
'The thing that's disappointing about today is that I think we should be capable of beating a team of Michigan State's caliber. It's disappointing that we didn't come out and didn't create as many quality chances as I know we're capable of.'
Sunday marked the final game played in Madison this season, and was the last appearance for seniors Goknur and Watson Vaughan Prather at the McClimon Soccer Complex.
The Badgers are next in action when they travel to Evanston, Ill. to take on the Northwestern Wildcats on Sunday, Nov. 2 at 1 p.m.
'We just have to come out and commit to winning and commit to playing as well as we're capable of everyday,' Rohrman said. 'Certainly we're capable of doing better than we did today.'
