The Western Collegiate Hockey Association named Wisconsin women's hockey senior Karen Rickard the League's Offensive Player of the Week and frosh Christine Dufour the Rookie of the Week for Nov. 10-16. The two Badgers played key roles in Wisconsin 's two-game sweep of Bemidji State this past weekend.
Rickard, a native of Bowmanville, Ontario, led the Badgers in scoring with two goals and one assist for a three-point series performance against the Beavers. Her three points improve her season totals to five goals and two assists for seven points and 35-29=64 in 113 games of her four-year UW career. One of just five seniors on the 2003 '04 roster, this week's WCHA honor is her first ever wearing the Cardinal and White.
Dufour, who hails from Riviere-du-Loup, Quebec, collected 23 saves in net for UW and earned her first career shutout in the 2-0 win against the Beavers Saturday. Now 4-1-0 in six games played, the Badger netminder has built a 1.51 GAA and .907 save percentage. This week's WCHA honor is also her first.
Seventh-ranked Wisconsin remains on the road this weekend as the Badgers (7-3-0, 3-3-0 WCHA) travel to No. 10 Minnesota State (7-1-0, 4-0-0) for a two-game series Friday, Nov. 14 at 7:05 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 15 at 3:05 p.m. Full recaps will be available on uwbadgers.com.
