Volleyball Ranked 23rd in Coaches Poll

The Wisconsin volleyball team fell one spot to 23rd in the USA Today/American Volleyball Coaches Association poll released Nov. 10.
Defending NCAA champion USC (24-0) remains atop the coaches poll for the 12th straight week and continues to receive all 65 first place votes. The top five teams remain the same as last week with Hawai'i (26-1), Florida (26-1), Pepperdine (20-2) and Kansas State (23-3), respectively, completing the top five.
The Big Ten Conference has four teams in the top 25. Penn State (22-4) remains 16th while Wisconsin (18-7) falls one spot to 23rd. Minnesota (17-9) dropped four spots to 24th while Illinois (19-5) moved back on to the poll at No. 25. Michigan State (17-7) receives points.
The Badgers are counting down the Big Ten season with only three weekends (six matches) of play remaining in the 2003. The Badgers must play four of their last six matches on the road including matches this weekend at Northwestern and Illinois.
Wisconsin (18-7, 10-3) travels to seventh-place Northwestern (16-10, 7-7) on Friday for a 7 p.m. match in Welsh-Ryan Arena. On Saturday, the Badgers take on 25th-ranked Illinois (19-5, 10-4), which is tied for second place in the conference with Wisconsin and Minnesota, on Saturday at 7 p.m. in Huff Hall. Northwestern plays at Illinois Wednesday night.
