Badgers Receive All-Big Ten Honors

Three members of the University of Wisconsin volleyball team were honored by the Big Ten Conference with post-season honors, the conference office announced today. Junior Jill Odenthal was named to the 2003 All-Big Ten team. Senior Morgan Shields earned honorable mention All-Big Ten honors and Amy Bladow was named to the Big Ten All-Freshman team.
Odenthal, a 6-0 opposite hitter, leads the Badgers with a .305 hitting percentage. She ranks second on the team with 3.60 kills and 0.39 service aces per game. The Geneva, Ill., native has recorded double-figure kills in a team-leading 22 matches this season. She has recorded a career-high 22 kills twice this year and has twice been named to all-tournament teams.
Shields, a 5-11 setter, leads the Big Ten with 13.60 assists per game. She also ranks third on the UW team with 2.23 digs per game. Shields, a native of Watertown, Wis., broke her own UW record for assists during the Big Ten season and moved into third on the UW career list for assists.
Bladow, a 6-2 middle blocker, has started 25 of 29 matches this season. She ranks second on the team with 79 blocks (0.77 per game). The Monument, Colo., native also adds 1.74 kills and 0.21 service aces per game.
