Volleyball Ranks Second in National Attendance

The University of Wisconsin volleyball program ended the 2003 season ranked second in the nation for attendance. It is the first time in the history of the program that the Badgers have ended the season ranked second. Wisconsin has ranked third six times including the last three years in a row.
The Badgers averaged a season-record 4,294 spectators per match to rank second behind the University of Hawaii. The Rainbow Wahine averaged 7,486 spectators per match and have led the national attendance list for the last 10 years in a row.
Wisconsin moved ahead of the University of Nebraska for the first time in program history. The Huskers dropped to third in the national attendance rankings with 4,239 spectators per match.
The Big Ten Conference had three universities rank in the top 10 in national attendance. In addition to Wisconsin, Penn State ranked fourth with 2,687 fans per match and Minnesota ranked sixth with 2,430 spectators per match.
2003 marks the fourth consecutive year that the Badgers have led the Big Ten in volleyball attendance. Wisconsin averaged a UW and Big Ten record 4,649 fans per match during conference-only matches.
