Badgers Face Alabama Tomorrow
December 29, 2003 | Men's Basketball
The Wisconsin men's basketball team (8-1) travels to face Alabama (7-2) on Tuesday at the Coleman Coliseum (15,316) in Tuscaloosa, Ala. The game will tip-off at 8:06 p.m. CT and be televised by ESPN Plus (WISC in Madison) with Craig Coshun and Mike Kelley on the call. It can also be heard live on the Wisconsin Radio Network (WIBA - 1310AM/101.5 FM in Madison) and on uwbadgers.com with Matt Lepay and Mike Lucas calling the game. This will be UW's final non-conference road game of the season.
The Badgers are ranked 15th in the ESPN/USA Today coaches poll and 19th in the Associated Press poll. Alabama is not ranked.
Wisconsin has won five consecutive games, the longest winning streak in the Big Ten. This is the 15th time in school history, and first since 2000-01, that UW has started a season 8-1.
The Badgers trail the all-time series with Alabama 0-2. The teams played a home-and-home series in 1979 and 1980. Alabama defeated UW 66-62 on Dec. 8, 1979 and won 90-75 on Dec. 1, 1980. Wisconsin is 10-10 all-time against teams currently in the Southeastern Conference. This will be the Badgers' first game on the road against an SEC team since they lost 66-58 to Tennessee in the 2000 season-opener. UW is 2-5 all-time on the road against SEC teams.
Sophomore forward Alando Tucker is averaging 19.5 points and 6.0 rebounds in the last two games, his first two starts of the season. After missing the first five games of the season due to a broken foot, Tucker has made 19-33 shots from the field (.576). He led the Badgers in field goal percentage as a freshman last year (.533).
Four players scored in double figures in UW's last game against Ohio on Saturday, the 31st time under Bo Ryan that at least four Badgers have scored at least 10 points. Wisconsin is 30-1 when that happens.
