Badger Golfers in Fourth After First Round of NCAA Regional

The Wisconsin women's golf team holds fourth place after the first round of the NCAA Central Regional Championship with an 18-hole score of 306. The Badgers will continue play this afternoon with a second 18 holes at the par 71, 6,033-yard Firethorn Golf Club in Lincoln, Nebraska.
California led all teams this morning, firing an impressive eight-over par 292. Kent State is in second place with a 299 and Oklahoma is four strokes ahead of Wisconsin with a 302.
Senior Katie Connelly led the Badgers in the first round. She carded an even-par 71 with three birdies and three bogeys. She ties for second among individuals with Kent State's Martina Gillen. Vikki Laing from California leads with a two-under par 69.
Malinda Johnson was second for Wisconsin with a two-over 73. She is tied for fourth individually.
Shooting six-over and turning in the third lowest score for the team was freshman Lindsay McMillan. She was even par through her first nine holes, but carded six bogeys in her second nine.
Jackie Obermueller turned in the final score for the team total. She shot a fourteen-over 85.
Senior Carli Gregorin was one stroke behind Obermueller with an 86 for her first 18 holes of the day.
