Golfers Take Ninth in Lady Northern Invitational

The Wisconsin women's golf team took ninth place in a preview of the 2004 Big Ten Championships at the Scarlet Course of the Ohio State University Golf Complex. The Badgers shot rounds of 309-312-318--939, only three strokes shy of Northwestern in eighth place. Leading the 15-team field, including all eleven Big Ten teams, was Texas with 893.
In front for the team was senior Malinda Johnson, stealing fifth place among individuals with rounds of 71-73-76--220. Next was sophomore Lindsay McMillan who tied for 51st, shooting 83-80-78--241. Freshman Nicki Morse once again turned in consistent scores of 80-81-81--242 in a tie for 55th. Sophomore Jackie Obermueller (80-80-84) and freshman Carrissa Werlinger (78-83-83) both tied for 59th with totals of 244. Jill Ries also competed for the Badgers, carding 82-79-84--245.
Next up for the golfers is the Legends Shootout in Wilmington, N.C. on Oct. 6-7.
