Women's Golf 13th at Edwin Watts/Palmetto Invitational

The Badgers fell to 13th-place over the last two rounds of the Edwin Watts/Palmetto Invitational at the Island Oak Point Golf Course in Charleston, S.C. With rounds of 313 and 311 on the final day, Wisconsin finished 11 strokes ahead of Arkansas State (943). Campbell (882) broke its first-day tie with Louisville to win the tournament title, three strokes ahead of fellow Big Ten opponent, Michigan (885).
Jackie Obermueller emerged to turn in the Badgers' highest finish, a tie in 44th-place (81-76-74=231) with Western Carolina's Brandy Andersen (74-76-81=231) and Kansas State's Sarah Heffel (76-76-79=231). Her only action of the fall season yielded her career 36-hole low (150) while posting the team's lowest scores during the two final rounds (76-74).
Freshman Mayumi Kobayashi used a career-low 69 during the first round to register the team's second highest finish in a tie for 47th (69-80-83=232). Her 54-hole score was a career-low as well, improving by one stroke on her total at the Lady Razorback Invitational. Classmate Katie Elliott followed in a 52nd-place tie with four others at 234 (79-78-77=234).
Lindsay McMillan finished one stroke behind and 15 over-par in 56th-place with two others, thanks to a pair of 79s during the opening rounds and ended the meet with her lowest round of the tournament (79-79-77=235). Jill Ries tied for 90th with an opening-round 83 (83-88-85=256).
Eastern Carolina's Adrienne Millican (70-71-72=213) used a three under-par effort to win the tournament's medal, two strokes ahead of Nebraska's Meryn Ito (74-68-73=215) who shot the tournament's lowest 18-holes during the opening round.
The spring season opens Feb. 13, 2005 at the Wisconsin-Minnesota Cup in Phoenix, Ariz.
