MacLeod Named WCHA Defensive Player of the Week
December 13, 2004 | Women's Hockey
Wisconsin earned its second Western Collegiate Hockey Association Defensive Player of the Week honor in three weeks as senior captain Carla MacLeod earned her third-career honor.
She led the Badgers to a road-sweep of Minnesota State, winning both contests by a combined 8-1 score. On Saturday, MacLeod notched two goals in the Badgers ' 4-1 win, including a game-winning power play goal and her third career shorthanded goal. MacLeod helped Wisconsin kill four Maverick power play opportunities in Friday's 4-0 shutout victory in Mankato.
Last season, MacLeod earned recognition twice as WCHA Defensive Player of the Week on Nov. 17, 2003 and Feb. 9, 2004 on her way to being named to the All-WCHA second team. MacLeod's five goals last season was the fourth most among WCHA defensive players.
The Badgers resume the season after the holiday break Jan. 7-8 at Quinipiac with the puck dropping at 6 p.m. on Friday and 4 p.m. Saturday.
