Badgers Open Practice In Tampa
December 27, 2004 | Football
After taking three days off for the holidays, the Wisconsin football team returned to practice Sunday afternoon in preparation for the Outback Bowl against Georgia Jan. 1.
The Badgers arrived in Tampa Saturday evening and then took to the University of Tampa practice field Sunday afternoon. The location may have been Florida, the weather at the beginning of practice felt very similar to Wisconsin. Temperatures dipped into the mid-40s early on, but the clouds eventually lifted and the sun came out by the end of the two-hour session.
Head coach Barry Alvarez commented to the team and the media afterward that he was pleased with the way his group competed throughout the full-pads practice.
'I thought we had a very good practice,' Alvarez said. 'I was very pleased after taking a couple days off and then traveling. '
Following some down time, the Badgers participated in their first official bowl-related function with Georgia during the evening as both squads converged at the Tampa Convention Center to participate in a dinner hosted by Outback Steakhouse.
UW will continue its preparation Monday afternoon for the game against Georgia as it takes to the field for its second practice session in Tampa.
