Garrett Jones led the Badger men's golfers through the final round of the Emerald Coast Collegiate with a 78 and a 54-hole total of 229 to tie for fourth individually. Placing eighth after two rounds, the team moved up two positions in the final round to finish in sixth place of the 15-team field. Marking the lowest individual finish of a Badger this season, Jones led Wisconsin for the second time in 2003-04. His previous career best was a tie for 21st at the Nestle Purina Classic last fall.
With 78-81-75=234, junior Kevin Tassistro tallied the overall fourth lowest score in the third round and lowest among UW teammates. He tied for 16th. Dylan Esterling came in at a tie for 37th with rounds of 84-79-78=241, while Brian Brodell knotted a tie for 54th (80-84-82=246) to round out the team total. Also competing, Ryan Conn shot 83-87-84=254.
Host West Florida led teams through all three rounds, firing an impressive 303-301-304=908. UWF teammates Matthew Berzovich and Andrea Signor battled for the top spot individually, both with a seven-over 223. Berzovich was the eventual medalist after a playoff.
Wisconsin rests next weekend and returns to Florida March 13-14 for the Big Red Classic in Ocala.
