Women Golfers in Eighth at Boilermaker Invitational

The Wisconsin women's golf team holds eighth place after the first two rounds of the Boilermaker Invitational in West Lafayette, Ind. The Badgers shot an opening round 310 and followed in the afternoon with a 321. Their 631 total placed them two strokes behind seventh place Kent State in the field of 12, dominated by Big Ten teams.
Senior Malinda Johnson is tied for eighth individually with a two round score of 151 (73-78). Next was freshman Nicki Morse in a tie for 30th, shooting 82-76=158. Sami Forster was three strokes behind her in a tie for 36th with scores of 78-83=161. One stroke behind Forster was Jackie Obermueller, firing 77-85=162. Lindsay McMillan, with 82-84=166, and Jill Ries, with 91-84=175, rounded out the Badger competitors.
Indiana leads the teams, firing a 298 in both rounds for a total of 596 for the day. Michigan State is six strokes back in second, followed by Purdue, Iowa and Michigan in the top five.
The Hoosier's Danah Ford leads individuals with a five-under par 139 (71-68).
The Badgers play the final round of the Invitational tomorrow morning, beginning at 7 a.m. CST.
