Wisconsin Has Strong First Round at Big Ten Championship

The women's golf team holds fourth place, led by senior Malinda Johnson in a tie for first, after the first round of the 2004 Big Ten Championship. The team fired a 306, five strokes behind leader Ohio State.
Michigan State sits in second with 304 and Purdue shot a 305 in third place.
Johnson shot an even-par 72 to tie with the Buckeye's Allison Hanna for first place. Sophomore Lindsay McMillan and junior Sami Forster both turned in 77's and are tied for 21st. Freshman Nicki Morse contributed the fourth score for the team total with an 80 in a tie for 49th.
Jill Ries, who shot 83, and Jackie Obermeuller, with an 89, are also competing for Wisconsin.
