The Badger men's golfers battled cold winds and rain Saturday to shoot 307-301=608 at the 7,013-yard, par 72 Forest Akers West Golf Course. They sit in tenth place among the 14-team field heading into Sunday's final round.
Freshman Garrett Jones leads UW in individual standings with scores of 71-77=148. He is tied for 13th. Brian Brodell is behind him in a tie for 26th with a consistent 76-75=151.
Junior Kevin Tassistro shot a career low 18-hole score of 68 in the second round, besting his opening round score of 84 by 16 strokes. He is one stroke behind Brodell with a 36-hole total of 152 in a tie for 34th. Dylan Esterling is in 65th after firing 79-81=160 and Ryan Conn is tied for 69th with 81-82=163.
The teams return to the links tomorrow at 8:00 a.m. with a shotgun start for the final 18-hole round. It will be the Badgers last tournament play before heading to the Big Ten Championship next weekend.
