Women's Hockey Announces 2004-05 Schedule

The Wisconsin women's hockey team will host eight weekend series and a preseason exhibition game with an international opponent for a grand total of seventeen home games at the Kohl Center the 2004'05 season. North Dakota also joins the Western Collegiate Hockey Association to make eight teams, enough for playoff and tournament series for postseason action.
The UW kicks off its season on Oct. 1 against international competition the Kohl Center. The international team will be named at a later date. The Badgers will stay on their home ice for a non-conference weekend against Wayne State, Oct. 8-9, before jumping into WCHA action in their league-opener against Bemidji State, Oct. 16-17.
November is packed with exciting ice action on the road for the Badgers. The Badgers will challenge Minnesota-Duluth on the Bulldogs' home ice. The UW will be looking for revenge when they take on the Bulldogs after a heartbreaking loss to the rival in the WCHA Final Five semifinals last season. Next on the road map is a first-ever meeting between the UW and North Dakota, Nov. 20-21.
Following that series the Badgers head to the East Coast to take on national powerhouse Harvard, Nov. 26. On Nov. 27 the Badgers take to Northeastern 's home ice to settle last season's tie score. The 2003'04 match-up was played at a neutral site in California. Finally home again, the UW squad opens December with a series against national champion, Minnesota, Dec. 3-4.
The new year brings Wisconsin's rivals to the Kohl Center ice. Minnesota-Duluth, North Dakota, Minnesota State and Ohio State round out the home schedule for the Badgers. The team closes the regular season on the road at Bemidji State and St. Cloud State.
The postseason picks up with the WCHA playoffs March 4-6 followed by the WCHA Tournament March 11-13. The NCAA Frozen Four is March 25-27 in Durham, N.H. Last season the Badgers finished ranked fifth in the nation and just shy of qualifying for the 2004 Frozen Four.
