September 15, 2004 | Men's Cross Country
Wisconsin junior Bobby Lockhart was named the Big Ten Runner of the Week after winning the Hawkeye Invite in a time of 25:10. The win helped guide the Badgers to a second-place finish at the 2004 season opener.
In 2003, Lockhart was Wisconsin's top finisher at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional, placing ninth and leading the Badgers to the team title. He also finished 14th at the Big Ten Championships to earn back-to-back All-Big Ten second-team honors. In 2002, Lockhart helped the Badgers place second at the NCAA meet, finishing 21st overall and third on the team, earning All-American status.
As well as succeeding in cross country, Lockhart also earned track and field All-America honors with his 10th place finish in the 10,000 meters at the 2003 NCAA outdoor championships. He placed eighth in the 1500 meters (4:04.57) and 13th in the 10,000 meters (30:15.95) at the Big Ten outdoor championships.
The Badgers continue their season at the Roy Griak Invitational Sept. 25 in Minneapolis. UW looks to repeat last year's gold medal winning performance. Check uwbadgers.com for the latest updates.
