Badgers Capture Third Straight Jim Drews Title

The No. 2 Wisconsin men's cross country team captured its third consecutive Jim Drews Invitational title Saturday in West Salem, Wis. The team scored a meet-best 46 points in the 23-team Invitational. South Dakota State's Brad Lowery finished first of 347 runners with a time of 24:12.6.
Three Badger runners placed in the top five and finished within a second of each other. Redshirt freshman Christian Wagner led the way with his third-place finish with a time of 24:25.4. Senior Ben Gregory closely followed Wagner with a time of 24:25.9 for a fourth-place finish. Senior Simon Bairu was right behind Gregory in fifth with a time of 24:26.0.
Junior Codie See was the next Badger runner to cross the finish line at 24:48.4 for a 13th-place finish. Junior Teddy O'Reilly came in 26th with a time of 25:14.1 while sophomore Ben Porter finished 34th with a time of 25:24.1. Redshirt freshman Bryan Culver was the last Badger to cross the finish line at 25:32.7 for a 41st-place finish.
Big Ten rival No. 20 Minnesota also competed at the Drews and came in second behind the Badgers with 52 points. Host UW-La Crosse came in third with 115 points.
The Jim Drews Invitational was the last test for the Badgers as they now prepare for the Big Ten Championships. The Badgers will look to capture their seventh straight Big Ten Championship title Oct. 30 in Minneapolis, Minn.
