UW tied for Seventh at Palmetto Intercollegiate

The University of Wisconsin women's golf team is tied for seventh place following the opening round of the Palmetto Intercollegiate Monday at Oak Point Golf Course in Kiawah Island, S.C.
The Badgers shot a 23-over par 311 to end the round tied with Louisville. The 19-team field also played the first half of the second round on Tuesday and will resume competition at 8:15 a.m. EST.
Senior Lindsay McMillan (Calgary, Alberta) ended the first round tied for fourth place at 2-over 74, one stroke shy of a three-way tie for first place.
Jeana Dahl (Fargo, N.D.) found herself one shot behind McMillan after a 3-over 75. The freshman was tied for 11th place after 18 holes.
Madison native Katie Elliott posted an opening round 80 to tie for 52nd place after one round. Junior Melissa Martin (Wisconsin Rapids, Wis.) fired an 82 and was tied for 68th place, two shots ahead of fellow junior Jill Ries (Middleton, Wis.).
Defending champion Campbell University led the way at 13-over 301 after the first round.
The teams will return to Oak Point Golf Club Tuesday morning to play the final 27 holes of the Palmetto Intercollegiate. The second round resumes with a shotgun start at 8:15 a.m. EST with the third round following immediately after completion of the second round.
