Badgers Finish Palmetto Intercollegiate in 14th

The Wisconsin women's golf team closed out the 2005 fall season Tuesday by finishing 14th at the Palmetto Intercollegiate in Kiawah Island, S.C.
UW ended the tournament at 311-313-320=944, four shots behind Illinois for 13th place in the 19-team tournament.
Leading the way for the Badgers were freshman Jeana Dahl (Fargo, N.D.) and sophomore Katie Elliott (Madison, Wis.), who both tied for 13th place at 229. Dahl played consistently in the tournament, posting scores of 75, 77 and 77 at Oak Point Golf Course. Elliott made her move in the final two rounds, shooting UW's lowest scores in each round at 74 and 75.
Senior Lindsay McMillan (Calgary, Alberta) finished six strokes behind Dahl and Elliott at 235. McMillan followed up her opening round 74 with rounds of 78 and 83 to finish tied for 39th place.
Juniors Melissa Martin (Wisconsin Rapids, Wis.) and Jill Ries (Middleton, Wis.) rounded out the Wisconsin effort by finishing tied for 84th and 88th, respectively.
Idaho University claimed the team title at 48-over 912 after a 298 in the final round. Idaho beat College of Charleston, the host school, by one stroke. Idaho 's Renee Skidmore claimed the individual title at 4-over 220.
Wisconsin will open the 2006 spring season at the Wisconsin-Minnesota Cup Feb.12 in Phoenix.
