Shaw Named AVCA All-American

Sheila Shaw, a senior on the University of Wisconsin volleyball team, has been named a third-team All-American by the American Volleyball Coaches Association. She earns her first All-America honor and becomes the sixth All-American in Coach Pete Waite's seven years at the UW.
Shaw is a two-time All-Big Ten Conference pick, aiding the Badgers to a second-place finish in the 2005 Big Ten race. She led the team and ranked eighth in the Big Ten with a .324 hitting percentage. Shaw also ranked 24th nationally, third in the conference and second on the team with 1.48 blocks per game. The Muskego, Wis., recorded a career-high 13 blocks vs. then-fifth-ranked Minnesota and led the team in blocks in nine matches this season. Shaw also led the Badgers and ranked eighth in the Big Ten with 0.30 service aces per game. She was fourth on the team with 2.91 kills per game, having led the team in kills in eight matches.
In her career, Shaw earned four all-tournament honors including being named the most valuable player of the InnTowner Invitational three times. She is a two-time AVCA All-Mideast Region honoree, earned one Big Ten Player of the Week award and was named to the 2002 Big Ten All-Freshman team.
A four-year starter for the Badgers, Shaw wraps up her career among the top UW players in hitting percentage (third at .308), kills (sixth with 1,313), block assists (sixth/426), total blocks (sixth/489), points (sixth/1,707), service aces (ninth/118), block solos (10th/63), total attack attempts (13th/2,894), games played (12th/435) and matches played (15th/125).
