Men's Track Wins Two at Arizona State

The University of Wisconsin men's track and field team opened its outdoor season by winning two events and earning two NCAA regional qualifying times at the Baldy Castillo Invitational on the Arizona State University campus on Saturday.
Junior Joe Conway won the long jump for the Badgers at 23 feet, 11 inches. Junior Alonzo Moore took the triple jump at 49-7 ' and finished second in the long jump at 23-4 '.
Regional qualifying times were picked up by Paul Check in the 110-meter hurdles with his second-place finish in 14.32, and Joe Thomas, who finished fourth in the shot put at 57-3 '.
The Badgers finished third in the 4x400-meter relay with the team of Dan Goesch, Joe Detmer, Nathan Probst and Scott Hogseth in 3:15.32. Goesch also finished sixth in the 200 meters in 21.51 while Probst was fourth in the 400-meter hurdles in a personal best of 53.92.
Top-five finishes came in the 400 meters, where Jvontai Hanserd was fourth in 48.02, and in the 100 meters, where Brian Calhoun finished fifth in 11.17.

The Badgers continue their spring-break training trip in Arizona all week and will compete at the University of Arizona on Friday and Saturday. The UW distance runners will compete at the Cardinal Invitational in Palo Alto, Calif., on Friday.
