Badgers Finish Eighth at Baylor-Tapatio Springs

Lindsay McMillan and Jackie Obermueller each tied for 24th as Wisconsin maintained its eighth-place position Saturday afternoon at the Tapatio Springs Golf Resort by accumulating a 54-hole team total of 962 (329-310-323).
McMillan (81-79-76) and Obermueller (83 -76-77), Wisconsin's top finishers on the individual leader board, managed some of the lowest scores on the tournament's final day in rainy, cold conditions. McMillan's final round 76 was the third-lowest score while Obermueller's 77 tied for fourth-lowest.
The Badgers finished three strokes ahead of Arkansas-Little Rock, Eastern Michigan and Toledo, who finished in a three-way tie for ninth-place (965). Wisconsin could not gain ground in the standings and remained four strokes back of UTEP and Florida International.
Katie Elliott (81-76-81) carded her second 81 of the tournament to earn a 30th-place tie with Ashley Brown of Sam Houston State at 238. Nicki Morse followed in 85th (84-87-89=260) and Melissa Martin finished two strokes back in 89th (93-79-90=262).
Baylor (295-291-311=897) maintained its grip on the tournament title, easily winning the tournament medal by seven strokes over Michigan. The Bears also took home the tournament's individual medal as Josefin Svenningsson (72-70-79=221) outlasted Southern Methodist's Laura Cross by two strokes.
Wisconsin Women's Golf continues its season April 2-3 at the Indiana Invitational on the Indiana University Public Course in Bloomington, Ind.
