Wisconsin Ties Big Ten Foes for Seventh

Despite improving six strokes with a round of 318 on the second day of the 28th annual Indiana Invitational, the Badgers (324-318=642) dropped to a seventh-place tie with Illinois and Iowa.
Leading the improvement on the final day was Jackie Obermueller, shooting a 79 to earn a 21st-place tie with five other golfers (81-79=160).
Jill Ries carded an 80 for her lowest round of the season by six strokes, giving her a tie for 37th. Ries' 36-hole effort (83-80=163) established a season-best, only two strokes off her career-low.
Lindsay McMillan tied in 47th-place, after a 164-stroke (80-84) effort. Katie Elliott and Nicki Morse (80-87=167) finished three stokes behind to finish tied for 57th to complete the Wisconsin scoring effort. As an unattached individual, Danielle Hoff used her lowest round of the season to climb the leader board 22 spots to a 79th-place tie (93-77=170).
Notre Dame swept the honors after extending its advantage on the second day by two strokes: winning the tournament championship by nine strokes (308-312=620) ahead of Grand Valley State while Noriko Nakazaki earned the individual medal with a 71-75=146 effort.
Minnesota posted the Big Ten's highest finish, surging to third-place after a 34-stroke improvement for the lowest team round of the tournament by 11 strokes during round two (334-300=634).
Wisconsin's final meet before the Big Ten Championships is Saturday and Sunday, April 9-10 at the Lady Boilermaker Invitational at the Birk Boilermaker Golf Complex on the campus of Purdue University.
