Suter Added to Team USA

Former Badger defenseman Ryan Suter has been added to the U.S. Men's National Team that is currently competing in the 2005 International Ice Hockey Federation World Championship in Austria. Suter joins Dany Heatley (Canada) and Bernd Bruckler (Austria) as former Badgers playing in the tournament.
Suter most recently competed for Team USA at the 2005 IIHF World Junior Championship in Grand Forks, N.D., where the defenseman served as team captain. Suter also competed in two previous World Junior Championships, winning the gold medal in 2004 and finishing fourth in 2003.
The seventh overall pick in the 2003 National Hockey League Entry Draft, Suter is currently playing with the Predators' top American Hockey League affiliate, the Milwaukee Admirals. In 63 games with the Admirals this season, Suter has 23 points (7-16) including four power play goals. His plus-10 rating is tied for third on the team.
Suter spent two seasons (2001-03) playing for the USA Hockey National Team Development Program in Ann Arbor, Mich. He helped the U.S. National Under-18 Team to a first-place finish at the 2002 Four Nations Tournament and won the gold medal at the 2002 IIHF World Under-18 Championship. Suter also won a gold medal with the Under-17 Team at the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge in 2001.
Suter played one season (2003-04) of collegiate hockey for the University of Wisconsin of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association. In 39 games for the Badgers, he tallied 19 points (3-16).
Suter will join the U.S. Men's National Team in Austria on Wednesday (May 4).
