Wisconsin Tied For Eighth at Badger Invite

Junior Jill Ries (Middleton, Wis.) shot a career-best 71 in the second round of the Badger Invitational to help the Wisconsin women's golf team jump into a tie for eighth place Sunday afternoon at University Ridge.
Seven of Wisconsin's eight golfers improved their scores in the afternoon round as UW recorded a 319-301=620 to tie Kansas State after 36 holes.
Ries anchored the effort by rebounding from an opening-round 80 to beat her previous career best for 18 holes by five strokes. Her score of 151 through 36 holes is also a career record. Ries is tied for 15th place overall.
Senior Jackie Obermueller (River Falls, Wis.) shot rounds of 77 and 75 to fall one stroke shy of her career best for 36 holes and is in a tie for 18th place.
Fellow senior Lindsay McMillan (Calgary, Alberta) and junior Nicki Morse (Oconomowoc, Wis.) are tied for 50th place after both shooting rounds of 81 and 79.
Making her UW debut, Jeana Dahl (Fargo, N.D.) notched a second-round 76 to finish the day in a tie for 53rd place at 161.
Playing as an individual, sophomore Katie Elliott (Madison, Wis.) sits in a tie for ninth place at 150 after posting rounds of 77 and 73. The other two individuals, Melissa Martin (Wisconsin Rapids, Wis.) and Carissa Werlinger (Naperville, Ill.), are tied for 27th overall at 153.
Purdue junior Onnarin Sattayabanphot leads the individual competition after shooting rounds of 71 and 69. The Boilermakers are in first place at 582 with Texas A&M eight shots back.
