Idle Badgers Stay On Top of Polls
September 20, 2005 | Men's Cross Country
The Wisconsin men's cross country team remains in the top spot of the MONDO NCAA Division I Men's Cross Country Poll released Tuesday. The Badgers did not compete this past weekend yet still received 11 first-place votes.
The Badgers opened the 2005 season No. 1 in the Preseason MONDO poll released last week with nine first-place votes. The top three teams remain the same with Colorado at the No. 2 spot with two first-place votes this week and Arkansas at No. 3 with three first place votes.
Stanford and Brigham Young swapped positions from last week as Stanford moved into the No. 4 spot and BYU dropped down to No. 5.
For the rest of the Big Ten, Iowa jumped from No. 16 to replace Ohio State at No. 13. OSU dropped to No. 15 while Indiana dropped from No. 17 to No. 21. Michigan made the biggest leap of the Big Ten teams from No. 27 to No. 22 while Minnesota held onto the No. 25 spot. Michigan State, tied for 30th last week, fell out of the rankings.
The Badgers will look to defend their No. 1 spot Saturday when they head to Minneapolis, Minn. for the 20th annual Roy Griak Invitational.
