Women's Golf 11th at Lady Northern Invitational

The Wisconsin women's golf team sits in 11th place after the first day of the Lady Northern Invitational at the Indiana University golf course. The Badgers shot rounds of 313 and 304 to end the day at 617, two strokes behind Illinois for tenth place.
Senior Lindsay McMillan (Calgary, Alberta) led UW with rounds of 77 and 76 to put her in a tie for 34th place. Fellow senior Jackie Obermueller (River Falls, Wis.) and freshman Jeana Dahl (Fargo, N.D.) are two strokes back in a tie for 41st place at 155.
Obermueller and sophomore Carissa Werlinger (Naperville, Ill.) tied for the best round of the day for the Badgers at 75. Werlinger shot her 75 in the second round to move into a tie for 46th at 157.
Madison-native Katie Elliott is tied for 58th place after rounds of 82 and 77. Junior Jill Ries (Middleton, Wis.) is one shot behind Elliott and is tied for 61st place at 160.
Purdue leads the 12-team tournament at 2-under par 574, 15 shots clear of Penn State. Maria Hernandez of Purdue and Samantha Richdale of Illinois State share the individual lead at 3-under 141.
The Lady Northern Invitational concludes Sunday morning at the Indiana University golf course. Play resumes with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. and live coverage is available on golfstat.com.
