
Badgers 14th in Shortened First Day at Palmetto

The Wisconsin women's golf team shot a 308 in the first round and is
currently tied for 14th place after 18 holes of the Edwin
Watts/Palmetto Intercollegiate played in Kiawah Island, S.C. Play was
suspended just after 5:30 p.m. due to darkness and will resume at 8:15
a.m. Tuesday.
Junior Katie Elliott (Madison, Wis.) is currently tied for 19th place
after shooting a three-over par 75 in the first round. Following
Elliott is sophomore Jeana Dahl (Fargo, N.D.) whose first-round 75
places her in a tie for 30th.
Senior Jill Ries (Middleton, Wis.) shot a first-round 82, and is tied
fir 52nd place. Isabel Alvarez (Gijon, Spain) is tied for 66th place
after shooting a 77 in the first round.
Rounding out the scoring for UW was freshman Kelsey Verbeten (Green
Bay, Wis.). Verbeten, who has competed in every round for UW so far
this fall, shot a first-round 81 and is tied for 84th.
Campbell University leads the tournament with a 295 total. Leading all
individuals is the College of Charleston's Steffi Kirchmayr who shot a
first-round 69.
