
Volleyball Ranks Second in National Attendance

The University of Wisconsin volleyball program ended the 2006 season ranked second nationally for attendance. The Badgers averaged a UW and Big Ten Conference record 4,328 fans per match.
Wisconsin attracted a record 73,576 spectators in 17 matches this season, breaking the previous season best of 69,350 fans in 17 matches in 2004. The average of 4,328 fans per match bested the previous mark of 4,294 spectators per match in 2003.
The Badgers also broke their own Big Ten record for attendance in league matches. Wisconsin drew 47,110 spectators to 10 Big Ten matches in the UW Field House, breaking their own mark of 46,489 fans set in 2003. The Badgers average of 4,711 fans per match breaks their own mark of 4,649 per match, set in 2003.
Wisconsin attracted a season-high crowd of 7,064 vs. Indiana on Oct. 15. The match figure ranked as the 14th largest crowd nationally this season and second on the UW all-time attendance list. The Badgers recorded five crowds this season that rank among the top-30 single match attendance figures in UW history.
The UW has ranked among the top 10 in national attendance for 17 straight years, including the last seven years in a row in the top four. Wisconsin also ranked second nationally in 2003. The Badgers have led the Big Ten in attendance nine years, including five straight years from 2000-04.
