Capital One Bowl Diary: Day 4
December 29, 2006 | Football
Follow the University of Wisconsin football team each day as it prepares for the Capital One Bowl. From practices to leisure time, uwbadgers.com will cover it all. Make sure to check out the typeid=5&deptID=111&eventid=28"> --> photo gallery for each day as well.
After an early day Wednesday, the team got to start a little later, with practice beginning at 12:45 p.m. Sorry to report back to Madison, but the weather was a beautiful sunny day (some cloudiness at times) with the temperature around 75 degrees.
A large media contingency'reporters from Wisconsin, Arkansas and Orlando were there'came to interview head coach Bret Bielema and defensive players. Nine TV crews were present, so there's plenty of video footage floating around the country.
Lunch today was catered by Firehouse Subs. Yesterday the Badgers ate Popeye's chicken, and tomorrow (Friday) will be Chick-Fil-A. UW Nutritionist Jeremy Isensee selects all the meals.
'I'm looking to pick out foods the guys will like that are also good for them'it's all about finding that happy medium,' Isensee said. 'As we get closer to the game, we want to make sure the food is healthier so that we're not loading them with bad stuff.'
Most of the team then went to Universal Studios or Universal Studios Islands of Adventure. Both were so crowded that apparently they had to turn away visitors. Unlike last year, though, there was no pre-scheduled publicity (in 2005, six players got to cut to the front of the line for the Incredible Hulk rollercoaster and ride it twice as TV crews filmed them).
Some of the players that didn't go to the theme parks went to the pool to enjoy the sun. The pool, which is heated, was like bath water (it felt good!), and the hot tub was crowded as usual.
