Anderson Earns All-Big Team Second Team Honors

Wisconsin sophomore Jolene Anderson was named second team All-Big Ten by both the Big Ten coaches and media panels. The 2005 Freshman of the Year, she earned third team honors last season. In addition, Janese Banks was named All-Big Ten Honorable mention by the media, and was Wisconsin's Sportmanship Award honoree.
With her second All-Big Ten team recognition, Anderson becomes just the ninth Badger to earn multiple year conference honors. The 5-8 guard leads the Badgers in scoring and rebounding and ranks fifth in conference scoring with 17.1 points per game. The Port Wing, Wis. native is just 24 points shy of earning her 1,000th point at Wisconsin. She ranks among the top in the Big Ten in a number of other major categories including second in three-point goals made with 2.07 per game, and seventh in rebounding (7.1) sixth in assists (3.57) and eighth in steals 2.07).
Banks is the second leading scorer for the Badgers with 12.9 points per game, and leads the team in assists and ranks third in the conference in assists with 4.38 per game. She took over the point guard spot this season. It is her first All-Big Ten recognition. The sportsmanship criteria included student-athletes chosen are individuals who have distinguished themselves through sportsmanship and ethical behavior. In addition, the student-athletes must be in good academic standing and have demonstrated good citizenship outside of the sports-competition setting. Banks earned her first Academic All-Big Ten honor this season as well.
Also honored with the repeat honor as Player of the Year was Ohio State junior center Jessica Davenport. She is the only the fourth student-athlete to win the honor more than once.
