Wisconsin Completes Dual Match with Augusta State

The Wisconsin women's golf team defeated Augusta State 8.5-6.5 in a five-player dual match Wednesday at Cuscowilla Golf Course in Greensboro, Ga.
The meet consisted of five individual stroke play matches worth three points each. One point was awarded in each match for the lowest score on the front nine, the back nine and the final total.
Freshman Isabel Alvarez (Gijon, Spain) led the way for the Badgers by winning her match 3-0. Alvarez has played in nine tournament rounds this season, including all six so far this spring.
Seniors Lindsay McMillan (Calgary, Alberta) and Jackie Obermueller (River Falls, Wis.) each posted 2-1 wins in their matches. Both McMillan and Obermueller have played in 18 of 21 tournament rounds this season, tying for third-most on the team.
Juniors Nicole Morse (Oconomowoc, Wis.) and Melissa Martin (Wisconsin Rapids, Wis.) provided the winning margin for UW even though they lost their matches 2-1 and 2.5-.5, respectively. Morse has played in three tournament rounds this year, all coming at the Badger Invitational last September at University Ridge. Martin has played in six tournament rounds including a 29th-place finish at the Badger Invitational.
Junior Jill Ries (Middleton, Wis.) also took part in an exhibition match, which she lost 3-0. Ries has played in 12 tournament rounds this season and is tied for fourth on the team with a scoring average of 80.3.
The Badgers return to action March 25-26 at the Mountain View Classic in Tucson, Ariz.
