Badgers Tied for Ninth, McMillan Fires Ace in Ohio

Led by Lindsay McMillan's hole-in-one, the Wisconsin women's golf team sits tied for ninth place at 605 following Saturday's first two rounds of the Lady Buckeye Invitational at the Golf Club of Dublin in Dublin, Ohio.
McMillan (Calgary, Alberta) carded the ace in the second round on the par 3 168-yard eighth hole with a 5-iron as the Badgers set a new season best for 18-hole score (299) in the afternoon. Wisconsin will enter Sunday tied with Northwestern seven shots behind Ohio State, the host school.
Sophomore Katie Elliott (Madison, Wis.) posted UW's best round of the day with a 72 in the second round. Elliott, who has led the Badgers in every tournament this spring, is tied for 22nd place at 149.
Senior Jackie Obermueller (River Falls, Wis.) recorded twin rounds of 75 to finish the day tied for 28th place at 150.
With her hole-in-one, McMillan sits three shots behind Obermueller in a tie for 48th place after rounds of 77 and 76 on Saturday. Freshman Jeana Dahl (Fargo, N.D.) joins McMillan at 153 with identical scores of 77 and 76.
Junior Melissa Martin (Wisconsin Rapids, Wis.) carded a season-best round of 77 in the second round. Martin is tied for 65th place at 159 in her first tournament action of the spring.
Auburn leads the 15-team tournament at 8-under 568, 15 shots ahead of Purdue. Auburn's Maria Martinez sits atop the individual leaderboard at 8-under 136.
Among the nine Big Ten teams at this weekend's tournament, the Badgers are tied for fifth place.
The final round of the Lady Buckeye Invitational takes place Sunday at the Golf Club of Dublin.
