McMillan, Turner Collect Big Ten Sportsmanship Award

Wisconsin women's golfer Lindsay McMillan and wrestler Tyler Turner were two of 22 student-athletes recognized Wednesday by the Big Ten Conference as Outstanding Sportsmanship Award winners. The individuals were chosen from a group of 276 student-athletes honored throughout the academic year who had displayed positive sportsmanship.
One member of each varsity sports team on every campus was chosen by the institution as a Sportsmanship Award honoree and from each university's list, two Outstanding Sportsmanship Award winners were then selected.
All of the Sportsmanship Award honorees have distinguished themselves through sportsmanship and ethical behavior. In addition, theses student-athletes must be in good academic standing and must have demonstrated good citizenship outside of the sports-competition setting.
McMillan, a senior, is a three-time Academic All-Big Ten selection and a three-time National Golf Coaches Association scholar. She concluded her career with a scoring average of 79.54 (10,101 strokes, 127 rounds), the sixth-lowest career average in school history.
Turner, a junior, was a team captain in 2005-06 and compiled a 23-11 overall record, imcluding a 12-4 dual record. Turner also competed at the NCAA championships and placed seventh at the Big Ten championships.
