October 10, 2007 | Women's Soccer
The Wisconsin women's soccer team has just seven regular-season games remaining in 2007, including six Big Ten competitions. Here to share some behind-the-scenes information with Wisconsin women's soccer fans are four current Badgers. In the third edition of the 'A Word With'' blog, junior-transfer Tricia Krombach gives the team a pep talk, sharing motivating and encouraging words with her teammates. Check back to UWBADGERS.com in the next few weeks to read blogs by Krista Liskevych, Marissa Sarkesian and Lynn Murray.
Wearing No. 2 on her Wisconsin jersey, junior forward Tricia Krombach is proud to be sporting the Cardinal and White colors of the Badgers. After graduating high school from Appleton North (Appleton, Wis.), Krombach enrolled at Purdue University where she played on the soccer team for two years before transferring to the UW last spring. Krombach has made a noticeable impact this season, starting 10 of 11 matches, tallying one goal and two assists so far.

I would like to use this opportunity to give a shout-out to all of my teammates. You all rock.
We headed into last weekend with a big challenge in before us. Penn State has been on top of the Big Ten Conference and national standings for years. Ohio State is always a contender for the Big Ten title as well and we knew they both were going to be difficult teams to beat. I don't think many outside of the Wisconsin soccer circle believed that we were going be a force this year.
But this past weekend, we believed in ourselves and I think finally started to click as a team. Everyone played a key role. On the field we fought hard and even when someone 's legs didn't want to move anymore there were four teammates supporting and encouraging them to go on.
Sure, we didn't get the outcome we would have liked against PSU but it was that game that showed we can compete against a great team. Against OSU we continued to fight and finally ended our scoring drought, giving us our first Big Ten victory of the season. It was a TEAM effort this weekend that we should be proud of and use as a stepping stone towards our goals.
My challenge to the team is to continue down the path we are moving. We must test each other and ourselves in practice while pushing our limits. We should continue to get better and not let up.
As we head into Thursday's game against Loyola-Chicago and Sunday's at U of I, I ask that we bring the spark that we have been playing with and the heart to win games. Remember the feeling you had when you first started playing soccer as a little girl. Believe that you can win. The season is not over yet. Don't hold anything back.
LET'S GET FIRED UP!
