October 25, 2007 | Women's Golf
The Wisconsin women's golf team closes out the 2007 fall season at the E. Watts/Palmetto Intercollegiate in Kiawah Island, S.C. Competition begins Monday, Oct. 29 on the Kiawah Island Golf Resort and concludes Tuesday, Oct. 30.
The Badgers are coming off a two-week break in action, with their last invitational played from Oct. 6-7 at the Hawkeye Invitational in Iowa City, Iowa. Wisconsin captured its second runner-up finish in as many weeks while senior Katie Elliott took the individual title after scoring a career-low 217 for three rounds. This was the second invitational title of the Madison-native's career as she also won the 2006 Badger Invitational.
Five other Badgers competed at the Hawkeye Invitational and the next finisher after Elliott was freshman Carly Werwie (Kenosha, Wis.). She competed in her second invite of the fall season and scored a career low 233 to tie for 15th. Junior Natasha Lopez (Asuncion, Paraguay) and sophomore Kelsey Verbeten (Green Bay, Wis.) both finished in the top 20 with their 17th and 18th place finishes, respectively.
The Badgers' spring season kicks off in just a few months when they face Indiana for the Westbrook Cup in Peoria, Ariz., on Feb. 10, 2008. Stay tuned to uwbadgers.com for updates from the E. Watts/Palmetto Intercollegiate and previews of the spring season.
