Krista Liskevych and Tricia Krombach each netted goals leading Wisconsin to a 2-0 victory over Iowa Friday night at the McClimon Soccer Complex. The win improved the Badgers to 6-9-1 overall and 2-6-0 in the Big Ten, while the Hawkeyes fell to 7-6-4 overall and 3-5-0 in the conference.
Sophomore Krista Liskevych (Encinitas, Calif.) notched her first goal of the season the 20th minute of play. The eventual game-winning goal came off a free kick from senior Marissa Sarkesian (Canton, Mich.) from 25 yards out. Liskevych, who was positioned perfectly in front of the goal, headed the ball to the back of the net putting the Badgers up 1-0 to end the first half.
Wisconsin's back four played aggressively, not allowing any shots-on-goal in the first half, which gave the Badgers a better offensive opportunity.
'I thought Ann (Eshun) and the back four played well tonight, which is a big credit to them,' head coach Paula Wilkins said. 'They were more organized tonight than they have been in the past, which is a big step for this team and shows that we are setting the pace of the game and not just responding.'
Tricia Krombach (Appleton, Wis.) was able to capitalize on another scoring opportunity when she found the back of the net in the 82nd minute of play. Shannon Terry (Long Lake, Minn.) shot a cross-field pass to Katy Meuer (Madison, Wis.) who then made a perfect pass to Krombach who was able to boot into the back of the net. The goal was Krombach's fourth as a Badger.
Junior Jamie Klages (Coronado, Calif.) recorded her sixth shutout of the season for the Badgers. Klages tallied one save during the 90 minutes of play, while Iowa netminder Kali Feiereisel notched two saves.
The Badgers took nine shots during the game, four of which were on-goal, while the Wisconsin defense only allowed Iowa to take three shots, one on goal.

'The win tonight keeps us alive and gives us some points heading into the Big Ten Tournament,' Wilkins added. 'Getting a win on our home field is what we strive to do, so we are really proud of the team for delivering tonight and hopefully that will carry on into Sunday.'
