
Eshun Honored with Big Ten Sportsmanship Award

Completing here fourth year as a defender for the Wisconsin women's soccer team last week, Madison native Ann Eshun was honored with the Big Ten's Sportsmanship Award. It was the first Big Ten honor awarded to Eshun at the UW.
Eshun, a team captain, started all but one game in her career, including all 18 games during the 2007-08 campaign under first-year head coach Paula Wilkins. The Spanish major tallied one assist on the year in UW's early-season victory over UC-Santa Barbara on Sept. 7.
The two-time Academic All-Big Ten selection was also named Wisconsin's defensive MVP in 2006, additionally earning the team's freshman award in 2004. In her four years as a Badger, Eshun recorded 11 assists and one goal, while playing an integral role as one of the UW's back four.
Notably, Eshun moved into seventh place on UW's all-time games started list with 81 starts as a Badger and is tied for ninth on UW's all-time games played list with 82. Former Badger, Marissa Brown (2002-05), who was named Wisconsin's most valuable player in 2005 and first team All-Big Ten the same year, tops the list with 92 starts in four years at Wisconsin.
