Three Volleyball Badgers Named All-Big Ten

Three members of the eighth-ranked Wisconsin volleyball team have been named to the 2007 All-Big Ten Conference team, the league office announced tonight. Sophomore Brittney Dolgner, senior Taylor Reineke and senior Jackie Simpson all repeated as members of the honor team. Senior Jocelyn Wack picked up honorable mention honors.
Reineke, a 6-3 middle blocker, earns her third consecutive All-Big Ten honor. She is only the third UW player to earn three first-team honors. The Naperville, Ill., native leads the Badgers and ranks fourth in the Big Ten with 1.51 blocks per game. She is also hitting a career-best .339, which ranks fifth among all conference players.
Simpson, a 6-0 setter, earns her second consecutive All-Big Ten honor. She ranks third among Big Ten setters, averaging a career-best 13.03 assists per game. The Downers Grove, Ill., native has guided the Badger offense to a .272 team hitting percentage, which ranks fifth all-time on the UW season record list. The UW has six players that average 2.0 or more kills per game this season.
Dolgner, a 6-0 outside hitter, is only the third sophomore in Wisconsin volleyball history to earn All-Big Ten honors. The Waupun, Wis., native leads the Badgers and ranks fourth among Big Ten players with 4.61 kills per game. She is also hitting a career-best .272.
Wack, a 5-11 libero, earns her first honorable mention honor. She leads the team and ranks sixth in the Big Ten with 4.58 digs per game. The Salem, Wis., native also ranks third in the league with 0.37 service aces per game.
2007 Big Ten champion Penn State and second-place Wisconsin dominated the All-Big Ten team. The Nittany Lions had four honor team members while the Badgers had three members. Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, Ohio State and Purdue each landed one player on the squad.
