Thomas Named Pro Bowl Alternate
December 19, 2007 | Football
Former Badger All-American tackle Joe Thomas was named an alternate for the 2008 NFL Pro Bowl in Hawai'i. Thomas' Cleveland Browns had two players, Braylon Edwards and Joshua Cribbs, named to the 2008 Pro Bowl while four other players, including Thomas were named alternates.
"It's pretty cool," Thomas said. "Coming in as a rookie you don't have too many expectations. Rookie linemen don't really ever get any votes."
Thomas and the rest of the Browns offensive line have had quite a year. They have been blocking for 1000-plus yard rusher, Jamal Lewis, and protecting stellar QB Derek Anderson who has thrown for 26 touchdowns and only 14 interceptions.
The Browns close out the regular-season with a game at Cincinnati and then host San Francisco in the season finale. With a 9-5 record, the Browns control their own destiny needing a win to secure a playoff berth.
