
Tegenkamp Wins USA 3,000 Meters

Former Badger Matt Tegenkamp won the men's 3,000 meters title at the 2007 USA Indoor Track & Field Championships, held last weekend at the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center in Boston. Tegenkamp was one of several former UW athletes who had strong showings at the meet.
Tegenkamp, a 2005 graduate, won the race in 7 minutes, 46.08 seconds, more than three seconds ahead of Nike teammate Jonathan Riley. Ben Gregory, a 2006 UW grad, finished 13th in the same race in 8:24.86.
Darren Niedermeyer, another 2005 graduate, finished third in the pole vault, clearing a personal best height of 18 feet, 4 ' inches.
Alonzo Moore, a 2006 graduate, placed fourth in the triple jump with a leap of 52-0.
