Senior goaltender Brian Elliott (Newmarket, Ontario) and freshman defenseman Jamie McBain (Faribault, Minn.) earned All-WCHA second team and WCHA All-Rookie Team, the WCHA announced at its awards banquet Thursday at the RiverCentre in St. Paul, Minn.
Elliott, who was also honored as the WCHA goaltending champion at the banquet, earned his second-straight second-team All-WCHA honor. The league leader with a 1.94 goals-against average, .930 save percentage and three shutouts in WCHA games, Elliott currently has a 2.11 goals-against average, .923 save percentage and four shutouts in all games. His goals-against average overall ranks fourth, while his save percentage is second and his shutouts are first in the WCHA.
McBain, who shared the league lead among rookie defensemen with 13 points in league games, is the second UW defender in three years to earn all-rookie honors after Kyle Klubertanz was on the team in 2004-05. The league rookie leader with a 0.52 points-per game average in WCHA games, McBain finished fifth on the Badgers with 16 points overall.
