
UW Women Golfers Earn Conference Honors

Junior Katie Elliott (Madison, Wis.) earned her first All-Big Ten Conference honors Sunday at the conclusion of the Big Ten Women's Championships in East Lansing, Mich.
Elliott, who led the Badgers all season with her 75.24 stroke average, was named second team All-Big Ten. Elliott was the second Badger finisher in the 72-hole conference meet tying for 28th with a 28-over 316. Her season stroke average ranks second best in Badger history. She tied the UW record for second lowest 18-hole round shooting a 69 at the Rio Verde Collegiate Invitational in March.
Also earning honors was senior Jill Ries (Middleton, Wis.) who was Wisconsin's Big Ten Sportsmanship award winner. Ries concluded her career with a tie for 62nd at the Big Ten Championship with a 341. Her 80.18 season stroke average was career best.
Wisconsin concluded its season with a ninth place showing at the Big Ten Tournament shooting a 1272. The Badgers set a new school season scoring record averaging 309.74 per round replacing the old mark of 312.06 set in 2001-02. The Badgers had the second best 18, 36 and 54-hole scores shooting a 304-293-297--894 last fall at the Legends of Indiana tournament in Franllin, Ind.
